Desert Thunderstorm Near Kearny, Arizona

A heavy thunderstorm builds over the desert mountains near Kearny, Arizona.

On a rainy December day while I was still living in Phoenix, I made a road trip around the Mogollon Rim and into the deserts east of Phoenix. The scenery was spectacular with each different type of terrain I came upon as massive thunderstorm clouds loomed over what seemed like the whole state. This shot was from the tail-end of the day near Kearny, Arizona, mostly known for mining.
