I think the most fun I had camping over the whole trip was at Camp 4 in Yosemite National Park. The interesting thing about Camp 4 is that when you pay for a campsite, you’re assigned into a group with other people which, unless you’re extremely introverted, forces you to meet the people you’re camping with. It’s an extremely friendly campground which makes it really enjoyable to stay in. The rangers on the hand were a different story. My friends in San Francisco said I must’ve just had a bad experience because in addition to the ranger working at Camp 4 looking like she couldn’t stand being in Yosemite Valley, I also came across another ranger in the valley who was completely ignorant about wildlife and wildlife management. She repeatedly tried to scare a bear away unsuccessfully by shouting at it with her hands in the air and then also prior to that, I heard her tell someone that the only place that they’ll ever see wolves is in Alaska. However, despite the rangers, Yosemite definitely lived up to the hype as far as scenery goes and Camp 4 is definitely on my list of places to stay again.
