Elk in the National Elk Refuge Panorama

Elk in the National Elk Refuge Panorama
Elk stand along a ridge in front of a stormy sunset in the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

When I first moved to the Jackson, WY area I saw an incredible scene that would have made a killer panorama – a golden light hitting clouds of a winter storm over distant mountains as a line of a dozen or so elk walked along the top of a ridge in front of it all. Thinking I would be seeing plenty of scenes like that, I kept driving to get where I was going and have since been kicking myself for not stopping and getting the picture. Well last night after hanging up my show at Pearl Street Bagels, I was on my way home and saw almost the exact same scene! The only difference was that there weren’t quite as many elk as the other time, however I learned my lesson and I made sure to get this one.

  1. The is really sweet Mike! I love how the elk have a solid white background – it really helps them stand out. Great glow!

Thanks Ron! As soon as I saw it I knew I’d be pulling over to get it.
